Trapu features both stout-like flavors and colors, which integrating the yeast-driven flavors and dryness of a traditional Belgian ale. Roasty in the nose, it features melded flavors of light coffee and chocolate, with subtle fruit and spice flavors rounding out the finish.

Canned 2021/02/25
Pours a large fluffy off-white 2 finger head with med retention, a bit of pillowy lacing, dark molasses brown color
nose brings nice dark malts, biscuity, toasted, a bit roasted, rich malt aromas, some caramelizations, hint of coffee, light earthy hop
Taste brings more dark malts, fair smokey character up front, toasted brown malts, biscuity, a bit of caramel note, light roast and coffee, some sweet candy flavors, light earthy hop with a light bitterness, a bit of dark malt-derived fruit esters as well, then sticky semi sweet finish with med bitterness and earthy spicy hops, fair amount of smoke lingering
Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, med-higher foamy carb, little sitcky
Overall mixed, I like most of it but not expecting the smoked malt, which seemed to detract from the rest of the beer, esp since it mentions nothing of that on the label or description, but interestingly none on the nose

Can from the Packie
Dark brown with faint ruby highlights and a huge bubbly tan head that persists. Rich caramel and fruity maltiness off set with hints of earthy hops and spicy yeast aroma and flavor. Pretty tasty.
