Oak-smoked Bavarian-style Hefeweizen. Excellent for pairing with barbecue and smoked meats and cheeses.

Stopped into Schilling yesterday (26AUG14) with my daughters for lunch. After a quick sampler, I got a full serving of Karl, served in a tall, slender flute for $5.50.
It was a cloudy, amber color, or "bernstein" as the Germans would say. Had some carbo welling up within, and owned a creamy, off-white head with A-1 lacing. The nose was wheaty and crisp, with some smoke and clove lightly evident. The feel had the typical hefeweizen prickle, with an acceptable, medium body.
Flavor had the usual banana and clove, and though neither was overly powerful, it was still solid. The rauch aspect was present, yet still on the subtle side, as with the aroma. It actually tended to get a bit hoppy towards the finish. Decent, all-in-all. Prosit!!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
