A sturdy bock-style pale lager with sophisticated malt complexity credited to the addition of Munich malt and decoction process. Balanced with subtle bitterness for illusive drinkability.

Orangey light brown cloudy body with two fingers of tan foam. Getting sweet malt with a hint of caramel, bready yeast, earthy spices, with mild orange zest. Taste has a pronounced pale floral hops character, that with the earthy spice, orange zest and yeast, dries out the sip almost immediately, finishing bitterly. Malts are thin in feel too, yeast carries with light hops bite, almost airy. Different take that is more interesting than good

From a 16 oz. can that is stamped 020 7 22. Sampled Feb 24, 2022.
Attractive orange-amber pour with nice clarity and a creamy off-white head.
Aromas of caramel, orange, floral, sugar, and maybe pear.
Light-to-medium and smooth mouthfeel.
Sweet malt flavor with a bit of caramel, pear and floral aspects. Generally a mild-moderate bitter finish. Enjoyable.

From a 16oz can that was sitting in my mini fridge for a few months.... tackling it out in The 'Zebo right now....
Poured fully into a Willi Becher, it's a rich, clear, medium to dark copper color. Has sparse, scattered carbo rising within. A hard pour brought forth a rocky, off-white layer of suds. The foam slowly ebbs back, with nice lace left in its wake. Nose is of toasty malts, caramel, and some spicy, earthy hopping. The body checks in at about medium, and it is fairly smooth.
Flavor has a pleasant mix of caramel, toasted bread, toffee, and cookie dough to start off, providing a good layer of semi-sweetness. Has a bit of estery fruity action next, with a smidge of pear and green apple. Finish has a dash of spiciness along with some mildly floral hopping. Not bad, overall. Prosit!!

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 03.02.2021 into the mug.
A - Lovely clarity, dark straw colored backdrop, active carbonation yields and supports a rich frothy cap.
S - Sweet malt, with touches of burnt sugar, white bread crust, a bit of peppery esters, and strong earthy hops
T - Each of the aromatics , are involved, then an unfortunate fusel aspect, compunded by a biting hop bitterness that seems heavy handed for the malt base.
M - Start is semi sweet, on a medium body, a slow shift and bitter becomes the prominant feel. Again that fusel and bitter bite take away from the malt display, that the style calls for.
O - I am surprised at this offering being a bit off putting. The color and clarity were welcome aspects, but there is work to do here. I hope the brewer continues to tweek this one.

oooh, canned on my birthday, 2021/03/02
Pours a med frothy thicker 1 finger off-white head with great retention, soapy lacing, mostly clear amber color
Nose sweet malts but not overly sweet sugary, some caramelized candy sugar notes though, a little toasted sweet bread, big sweet golden malts and amber malt, light floral hop, bit of fruity esters in the background
Taste is more traditional, semi sweet strong blonde malts, a bit bready and biscuity notes, nice rich sweet bread crust, light caramelized candy sugar as well, overall fair sweetness, a touch of perfumey alcohol though that gets a bit heavy for less than 7%, nice fruity esters, tree fruit and a little golden cherry in the background, fair herbal floral hops with med-lighter bitterness, sticky semi sweet finish with med bitterness that clashes a touch and gets spicy, a little too hoppy overall
Mouth is med to fuller bod, not syrupy, higher foamy carb, light warming almost tingly alcohol
Overall mixed on this one, malts were quite nice but maybe a bit too sweet, hops got a bit too heavy and aggressive, fruity esters were nice, but alcohol came on too strong and almost got fusel, not quite up to par for Schilling

I'm a big fan of Schilling's Lagers and, after picking up a few cans of Winterhammer, think this may be the best of their products I've tasted to date. Bock-style Lagers aren't easy to find in my area and this one is definitely worth repeat purchases for as long as it's available.
