Bready, malty and clean. Notes of maize and biscuits. Refreshingly dry on the finish.

This was another beer that I picked up at ShopRite Liquors in Little Falls a few months back, as I saw that it was ranked highly on here. Indeed, this was worth obtaining as it was once of the best examples of the style that I’ve reviewed on here!
Golden and bright in hue, a sufficient head of spongy foam topped this off as it was full of big bubbles. That dissipated quickly as it left behind very little in the way of lacing aside from a thin collar along the top of my pint glass. Maize, blue corn, grass, lemon, and slice were in the nose as the taste was just as smooth, varied, and inviting. Some cracker entered the fray once this fully warmed up, as this was plenty full and crisp for a beer of this type.
Plenty of malt was to be had here but the carbonation was spot-on and the alcohol was nearly nowhere to be seen. Dated 5/7 of this year, this drank as beautifully as its Mexican tile-inspired label. Can’t ever say that I’ve ever had a Vienna Lager like this, but I was certainly liking this lighter take on one! Reach for this over a Dos Equis if you can!

A very clean, light, and easy drinking beer with a pleasant malt flavor to it. Toasted bread, mellow nuttyness and maybe just a hint of sweetness invoking brown sugar or caramel. Overall super crisp and well balanced, delicious!

Can from the Packie,
Deep amber in color with a decent sized off white head that slowly dissipates. Bready crackery light toffee maltiness with earthy spicy hops to counter. Clean, pretty nice.

Pint can serving into a traditional Sam Adams glass.
Deep mahogany color, clear and vibrant look. Strong seafoamy white cap, slow dissipator with bunches of lace.
This is a very,Very malty nose. Sweet dark bread aroma, old leather and green veggie hops are subtle with a classic sour lager yeast funkiness.
A slick, medium body mouthfeel that is all malt let's you know this is all lager. Spicy herbs, sweet dark bread flavor dominates most of the way. Mildly crispy middle has more grainy amber malt flavor's, slightly smokey and sour in the finish.
Can states: Mexican-Style Lager... Which, to my knowledge is light, gold, crisp and easy.... Then it's: stated on the side of the can as a Dark Vienna-Style Lager..
Usually darker, smooth and very malty. I think we have a bit of an identity crisis...
Lots of malt flavor that is a bit narrowly focused, not complex... Just a standard malt thing really. Long and slick malty mouthfeel keeps it session limited as well.

No can date
Pours a med-larger foamy fizzy off-white head with med retention, touch of lacing, very clear but dark auburn to ruby to iced-tea brown color
Nose is quite pleasant, lots of toasted grainy malts, caramelized bread crust like that dark brown bread crust, a little toffee, caramel, and sweet candy aromas, hint of fruity esters, some floral hops, little biscuity toasted cracker, very inviting,
Taste brings sweet malt again, toasted grain and a little biscuity cracker again, sweet bread crust, again that dark brown Maillard bread crust, into the caramel, toffee, and sweet flavors but not sticky sweet, nice balance with a little floral fruity hop character and mild bitterness, soft lager center, nice VIenna malt presence and pretty strong as well, drier finish and does get a touch astringent, crisp finish with low-med hop bitterness
Mouth is med to lighter bod, a touch astringent on the finish, med to a bit higher frothy carb
Overall solid Vienna lager, great malt characters, nice hops, touch of fruity esters with some nice soft lager notes, only complaint is the mild astringency on the finish

A: The beer is clear but very dark reddish amber in color. It poured with a short white head that left a narrow collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass and some bits of lacing clinging to the sides.
S: Light to moderate aromas of toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of toasted malts, but there are a good dose of underlying hops to mask any sweetness and contribute a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really enjoyed this Vienna Lager and it seemed to have a perfect balance between the malts and hops.
