Our newest Baltic Porter pours a dark brown-to-black hue, showcasing an off-white head. Notes of baker's chocolate, toasted brown bread and hints of dark fruit touch the nose. Subtle roast, an earthy-nuttiness and caramel notes also touch the palate.

Drinking out of a small goblet.
Pours a slightly reddish black with a thin ran head.
Smells a little of licorice.
Nice smooth silky mouth feel.
Nice taste of dark malt. Hints of figs, espresso, dark caramel.

The clear pint glass arrived nearly full, after the brew was drawn from a tap. The light tan film posing for a head contributed very little to the volume. That's the way we pour draft beers in Philadelphia. The liquid is black coffee brown in color, with a sheen only slightly more dull than the hot liquid. The aroma is pleasantly roasted barley forward and there's enough hopping to make it interesting. Its taste is shallowly sweet and lacking a deep roasted bitter character. There's enough hopping to provide an acceptable counterbalance and the mouthfeel is relatively thin, but acceptable for this style. The glass lacing isn't.

The pour is matte black colored with a tan & frothy head of foam. The taste is dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, along with some hints of raisin, & cola. Cheers! A-

Creamy taupe head over chocolate brown; raisins, brown candy sugar, tin, and roast nose; carob, earth, cocoa powder, hazelnut skins, cherry stones, espresso; clean, dry, smooth.
4 x 5
For a Baltic Porter, low on fruit, roastiness about right, lager snap not quite there.
More English Porter; there’s room to bump the intensity, even at a low-for-the-style ABV.
But the whole thing is balanced like an acrobat, and that’s its own pleasure.
Even without a bullseye recipe, Schilling still excels at execution.
