There are a lot of bourbon/whiskey barrel aged beers these days, and most are plenty tasty. This Rye Baltic Porter is a cut above a very good crowd.
The rye spiciness is distinctive, really terrific. The bourbon shows up big in the smell. It's just one part of the taste, a wonderful blend that includes vanilla, mild caramel, sweetness, and the underlying baltic porter flavors. It's a fine combo. The feel is super smooth and creamy.
It's an excellent beer.

Thanks, Nick!
Got this and a host of other good stuff from Nick. I was excited about this one as soon as I saw Baltic Porter on the can. Throw in rye whiskey barrel-aged and I was in heaven. Only thing I could track down online read, “This imperial baltic porter was aged in rye whiskey barrels. Robust and delicious.” Sweet description, Station 26. Really enlightened me.
Poured a dark reddish brown color with two fingers of khaki tan head. Could see some bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. World-class spiderweb lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled rye, oak, bourbon, dark fruit, plum, graham cracker, brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Not as flavorful from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Damn. Really good with the taste. Got rye spice, vanilla, bourbon, oak, cinnamon, graham cracker, brown sugar and dark fruit. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Really liked this one. This was excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

Mahogany red body, deep and dark; decent carbonation; thin yet lasting head. Dull, sweet kind of rye smell with a hint whiskey barrel. Rich dark grain flavors; spicy malt character; alcohol presence subtly lurking in the background. Heavy body; feathery smooth and velvety; refined sweetness coats the palate, counterbalanced with a nice boozy warmth; partially (dully) sweet, partially dry mouthfeel overall.
The beer may not be much to look at or exude any powerful smells, but the taste and mouthfeel are par excellence!.
