Appearance - Pours near black with cola brown edging and a tan, finger width head. Sub-par retention, resulting in a barren surface. No lacing.
Smell - Very sweet... is this a milk stout? Milk chocolate, sugary sweetness, raspberry and a hint of roast.
Taste - Follows the nose. Chocolatey flavor highlighted by fruity raspberry notes. A touch of roast in the finish, but mostly it ends in the same way it started; chocolate and raspberry.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with lively, slightly bitey carbonation. Texture is creamy with an easy, slightly dry finish.
Overall - Decent brew but nothing that hasn't been done before, and frankly it's been done better. This one's just a bit too sweet for my taste. Again, is this a milk stout? It certainly has some quality to suggest so, but nothing on the can or their website to confirm this. It could just be the cocoa nibs. Regardless, nothing I'd seek out again.
