Appearance - Pours relatively clear and rustic orange in color with a sandstone, near two-finger width head. Fair retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds and a decent sized ring around the edge of the glass. Some broken lines and a few small spots make up the lacing.
Smell - Grapefruit and pineapple are strong on the nose, while a touch of caramel and maybe even lightly toasted bread add slight maltiness to the aroma.
Taste - Follows the nose. Tasty combination of grapefruit, orange and caramel upfront, then some pineapple zing emerges mid-taste. Finishes with an accumulation of said flavors, but caramel and pineapple and can both be found lingering in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Close to full in body with moderate, tingly carbonation. Slick, smooth texture that quickly turns dry with a hint of stickiness in the finish.
Overall - Beautiful West Coast 3x IPA, and it's got that citrus and caramel combo I love, with that pineapple kick to boot. Drinks smooth at 11% too. This is one I'll keep an eye out for in the future, though at 11% not one I'll keep knocking back.
