A good, solid Porter!!! Poured from a 16 oz. can into a pint glass, this beer features a dense black color with no light coming through. The dark tan head is very carbonated and fades quickly, leaving some lacing on the glass. Aroma and taste are very malty - not so sweet bready malt and a slight bit of bitterness from the almonds. Primarily malty with some chocolate and coffee as well as some smoky malt, which gives it it's name. I really like smoky beers and wish that this one had even more smoke, but it was fine -as-is!!! Mouthfeel was rich and smooth. The nutty bitterness is noticeable but not a major factor. The smokiness definitely added to the overall 'feel. A fine beer from a local brewery

From the pint can, it pours a dark brown color with a light brown head that soon reduces to a nice ring. In the nose, smoke with a bit of malt and soy sauce?? My son got a scent of soy sauce.... In the mouth, no soy sauce, just a nicely smoke bier.
