Brief Review:
O: This is the 2nd beer from Stormcloud's new Lakehouse Ales Project. Going in a darker direction, this is another complicated beer that is best summed up as a soured wine-barrel aged blend of Saison du Stormcloud and The Farthest Shore. Unfortunately, unlike Day 1, this one has way too many cooks in the kitchen. The individual aspects sound great (red wine barrels, aged on cacao nibs and vanilla), but together something just isn't working. I think the biggest offender might be the red wine barrels. It gives a very dry, oaky note that clashes with the cacao. Honestly, I can't think of any other beer I've had that was aged in red wine barrels, so I give them credit for experimenting. But still too much going on with this one. Maybe they could've chosen a better base beer as well.
Recommendation: Clearly inferior to Day 1, I wouldn't necessarily spend the money on this bottle if you can only afford one.
