Tall Can LCBO. This is an okay Kolsch style brew. Although I have had much better Ont. craft Kolsch styles (Cowbell, Beau's and a few others).
Pours gold in colour with a touch of cloudiness. White, foamy head, with good retention, and glass lacing. Nose has a hint of stale moss. Flavors of grassy malts, hints of citrus.
Finishes dry and a bit acetic. Tastes more like a lager than a lagered ale. I would drink again, but won't go out of my way to find it.

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. Another Collingwood LCBO purchase for about $3.20 CDN. Listed as 5.3% ABV.
Appearance - hazy rich golden beer with near orange highlights. A fine finger plus of dense white head, good retention and minimal lacing. Loads of visible carbonation through the haze. A very nice looking beer.
Smell - well this is different. Plenty of fruit with some peach and pear initially, then more vinous notes.some sweet caramel malt in there for good measure. Not lacking for aroma if not conventional. Mineral notes show after a few sips.
Taste - nice blend of grain, subtle fruit touches of peach and pear and a sweet caramel maltiness. Less grape flavor her than I'm used too and no trace of wood which is also occasionally found.
Mouthfeel - smooth, light and semi-crisp however the flavor profile doesn't lend itself great for a super crisp and clean beer. Carbonation is about right.
Overall - a very solid lagered ale, lacking a touch in crispness, but making up for it by being quite flavourful and aromatic. Like this beer quite a bit, but others in the style are certainly comparable in overall quality. Still a nice follow up for this young brewery.

473 mL can from the LCBO; best before Dec 9 2017, listed at 5.3% and served well chilled. I have had a few cans of this over the last month or two, but am only now getting around to a review.
Looks good, with a hazy, pale golden colour and streams of lively bubbles to indicate its effervescence. One inch of frothy, soapy white foam settles down to a foamy mat about a cm thick within the next several minutes, remaining in place for quite a while. Not a lot of lacing initially, but the cap has a tendency to cling to the glass, generating more as you sip. Immaculately clean aroma, with grainy pale malts, flaky pastry crust and golden syrup overlying fruity hints of pears and white grapes.
An ok lagered ale, but a little too sweet for my tastes; I'm getting more grainy bread, pastry crust and golden treacle sweetness on the front end. These flavours persist unchallenged through to the back end, which only offers a limp, grassy bitterness with a hint of peppery spice. Light in body, with moderate carbonation levels typical of most of the other assorted blonde/lagered ales I've sampled in the past. Easy to drink, but not very compelling.
Final Grade: 3.53, a B grade. Chesterfield Golden Kölsch Style Ale is not bad, at least by local standards - the problem is that it has nearly a dozen other Ontario lagered ales of similar to superior quality to compete with. Chesterfield is fairly middle of the pack in my opinion - easy enough to drink, but it leans a little too heavily on the malts, without much of the hop character or the dry aftertaste that this style usually demonstrates. I don't dislike this beer, but I also don't think it's anything special - a take it or leave it sort of deal.

Can - pours a turbid light gold ale in my glass with a 2 finger white cap that disappears to a surface lace quickly. Light nose with some boiled grains and light grassiness. Flavor is decent and Kolsh-like in its attenuation and finished smoothness - malty but balanced, sturdy biscuit malts and herbal hopping - crisp dry finish goes lightly bitter - no aftertaste...clean refreshing but nothing outstanding - a good lagered ale.
