A traditional German Pilsner brewed with top quality Pilsen-style malted barley, German Fantasia and TNT hops, and lots of flavor. It features subtle bready notes, a crisp hop character and a clean finish.

On tap at Coppertail. You can tell by the smell that it won't be boring. Lots of hops, like a good European Pilsner. Maybe even more. It was almost acidic.As it warms, it tastes less aggressive. I'd have this at home.

Poured from a 12 oz. freshness dated bottle: clear, sparkling and deep golden hue with a quickly receding white head.
The aroma was quite marked for a pilsner style - some distinct aromas for the style: fresh hay and citrus. (The brewery's website mentions a German hop I have never encountered, as well as a hop named "TNT".
That unique and aggresive aroma continues to the flavor - this is a sharp and dry pilsner with almost an astringent profile. As the lager warmed, I could detect some of the typical pilsner characteristics - cracker and malt flavor, but that crispy hop presence is always there in a very favorable way. This is truly an "independent" pilsner. The closest to this profile is the pilsner brewed by Oskar Blues; however, this one is much smoother and enjoyable.
Based on this experience, I look forward to trying some other offerings from this brewery. There is some really quirky artwork on their bottles.

Clear pale golden, white head, somewhat persistent, lacy; rich slightly pungent aroma; Foamy crisp mouthfeel; Stay, smooth, mild hops, a faintly soapy but not objectionably so (my bottle was two months past its best-by date);

Pretty good. First American pils that reminds me of a German pils in Germany.

Palate Contaminants: none
Color is a light-medium gold. It's mostly clear, although not super clear. Small amount of fine white head.
Smell is both rice and wheat, which you get with any European lowland common brew, but it's a bit stronger here. Slight hop funkiness.
The relative intensity that's on the nose is also pleasant for the taste. Wheat and barley, not overly sweet. It would be much better if the bitterness were dialed back just a little. Slightly toasty.
Slightly prickly carbonation. Aftertaste has less of the grain and more of the bitterness. But I guess it's inviting one to take another sip.

Another solid offering from the "other" brewery in Tampa, FL...
As far as the look and smell goes - it pretty much sums up the style quite well, though I found it to be very clear and the drink had some malty undertones that I sniffed. Mouthfeel was something between light- and medium-bodied with distinct astringent tightness on my tongue and a dry-finish. I bounced between really liking this to almost hating it; quite possibly this was the most bitter or hop-centric pilsner I have had to date. It was definitely different and even unique, but not quite what I would gravitate towards in the future.

Picked this up in a Total Wines in Fort Myers. I had Coppertail's Freedive a few days ago and liked it, so I thought I'd see if that was a fluke.
Pours a light straw color with a decent white head. Initial impression is surprising hops bitterness - kind of dank and earthy. There is a biscuity malt backbone, but it is definitely secondary to the hops. Mouthfeel is medium and crisp. Finish is also bitter. This is spot on for the style.
I use my ratings to memorialize the way I feel about a beer, not how well I think it adheres to the style. I don't like Belgians, so typically I rank them fairly low. Apparently I'm not a big fan of German Pilsners either. (I know - I'm a heathen....) So stylistically this should score higher than the numbers I gave it.

Pours a clear yellow color with a medium thin white head on top. Can smell a lil bit of grain mixed with some hops. This is like a hopped up version of miller lite.
