Reviewed from notes. Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into an El Catador teku glass.
A: A medium gold that's very hazy, bordering on turbid, with some ruby red grapefruit-colored highlights. A thin white head fades almost instantly. Not much visible carbonation.
S: Lactic tartness and some Lactobacillus funk. Guava and passionfruit and vanilla. Biscuity malts, just a hint of grainy but not much. Pretty decent, and with more nuanced funk than typical in this series. But I don’t get any raspberry on the nose.
T: Guava puree and tropical fruit salad. A biting acidity that’s more than expected but not over the top. Some Lacto funk, lactic tart and citric acid, as the nose suggested. Mild vanilla on top of the cracker malt body that has minimal if any huskiness on the palate. Maybe just a hint of underripe raspberry tartness and dryness, but I likely wouldn’t have called it if I wasn’t looking for it. More lactic tartness and guava in the hang.
M: A light body overall, but on the substantial side for a Berliner. Average carbonation sensation for style. Minimal alcohol presence.
O: Not bad, but not my favorite combination of flavors in this series that Coppertail has been putting out. I’ll enjoy this bottle, but won’t be looking for more.

I'm a fan of this brewer, but not so much of this offering...
On the surface, Guava Pastelitos should be a brew (from a dessert beer perspective and being of Cuban decent) I should like, if not love. An on the surface, with respect to its appearance and smell - I mostly did. The appearance was both standard and unique - the cloudiness of the style with the bright raspberry coloration of this instance. The smell was very muted for the flavors touted on the bottle - I pulled out the raspberry and even some coriander, but not much else. The rest of the brew was about as okay as it could be. The mouthfeel was more carbonated than I prefer and the taste was overly bitter, more like sour, and I'm not a big fan of sours. Though I won't be going out and looking for more of these, it was a decent enough try at spicing up the Berliner style...

Its just like some guava raspberry juice, but with less sweetness and more acidity. I get no vanilla and no alcohol (as expected with a 3.5 ABV). I also taste some light maltiness. Really refreshing beer.

Very murkey golden look with a very little head on top. Smelled very fruity, can definitely smell the guava in it. The taste was very sour and tart. Not a bad sour.

On tap at the Playalinda Brix location.
Light golden-apricot body with a good head and fine lacing.
Smooth, light body with excellent, lively carbonation. Near puckering tartness.
The aroma features guava, light raspberry, and vague tropical fruits.
The flavor follows, adding a hint of vanilla. Moderately tart for style.
Overall: highly recommended.
