Poured from a tap-filled growler

Pours a clear copper color with a huge frothy beige head that cascades in the glass. It recedes quickly but a layer remains until the end with a good bit of lacing.

The nose and flavor aren't too complex. A lot of sweet malt and rye. No real hop presence in the nose. In the flavor there's just enough bitterness so that it is not overly sweet.

The mouth is medium-light, smooth, with just enough carbonation.

This is a very good red rye ale that has its strength in keeping it simple. I'lll look forward to the next glass.... and the next.

Thanks to LGB362 for this sexy-lookig extra that just arrived. Want to make me happy? Send me ryes. For every one that sucks I discover another favorite or two. 22 oz. bottle split with my rye-suffering wife.

Pour flips outta the glass a dark red with moderate carbonation. Nose is typical red: warm caramel malts, bit of grain. A tamed red.

Ain't nothin' titillating about Sexy Rexy. Dull melted caramel dominates. Touch of earthy rye. Faint echoes of hop bitterness on the finish. Too heavy for what it is. I could have done with about three ounces to figure this one out; half the bomber is simply too much.

Not bad, just bland & uninspiring: this doesn't really work as a rye or a red. Sorry, Rexy, I'm just not that into you.

Iam a litle surprised Iam the first to review this beer.Pours into an impy pint glass a deep auburn color with a half finger white head that is gone pretty quickly.Aromas are really muted with a bit of toasted grain and faint sharp rye but it's really faint.Pretty refreshing for it's abv. and goes down pretty easy.Malt tilted with biscuit malts upfront with a firm toasted grain element thru out,a little sharp/lactic rye shows up in the finish. Not bad it goes down easy but the flavors wont wow you.
