An aggressively hopped American IPA with 5 different hops. Prominent citrus and floral aroma with a very smooth hop taste. Pours a golden/orange color with a thick white head.
The Story:
exclamation: touché
1. (in fencing) used as an acknowledgment of a hit by one’s opponent.
2. used as an acknowledgment during a discussion of a good or clever point made at one’s expense by another person.
3. The brewmaster made this IPA for his wife, Chey

Bottle into pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy honey color with a huge, blocky head. Initial impression is citrus, grapefruit, and pine. Mouthfeel is clean and bright. Finish fades to a slight pine bitterness. My first beer from this brewery.

Drinking this at The Double Barley Brewery in Smithfield NC.
On tap poured into a pint glass.
Appearance, amber with a foamy white head and lacing that dropped quickly.
Smells, grapefruit and piney.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium light, well carbonated.
Overall, an okay IPA that I might order again.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Double Barley, poured into a pint glass. Had an amber-ish color and a hazy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Below average lacing.
S: A fair, but not fantastic, aroma of hops, malt, pine, citrus, and a floral quality.
T: Tasted of a mild amount of malt (mostly in the finish), a little bit of citrus (lemon, in particular), lots of hops, some of the aforementioned floral quality, and a bit of pine. For the most part this is a solid flavor, but there's nothing overly interesting about it. Quite hoppy, but not super-balanced.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.
O: On the whole, this is an uneven beer. It has it's good qualities, but it doesn't distinguish itself. Still drinkable.

Had a couple on tap at the Ruddy Duck restaurant in Morehead City NC. Pours a somewhat hazy orange amber color with a good size white head and rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma included mild piney, earthy hops and maltiness. The aroma and taste at first reminded me of an English IPA. As I drank more, the hops became somewhat more prominent and there was a nice balance between hops and malt. Mouthfeel was rich, crisp and refreshing. Could have used a bit more hoppiness but overall a satisfying IPA. My first beer from this brewery!!!!

Appearance: pours a orange color with a 2" head that slowly recedes to a thick surface covering.
Smell: pine and earthy hop bitterness are easily detectable.
Taste: caramel, big pine flavor, lemon zest, grapefruit, and a strong earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp to start, less crisp and a bit dry late.
Overall: a decent IPA with plenty of earthiness and pine from the hops.

Picked up a four pack of cans today at Lowes Foods. Pours haze gold turning to copper with a big beige head and spotty, sticky lace. Nose is underlying citrus and malted and flowers.
Citrus and pine wrangle most of the flavor, with minimal balance and a broad, refreshing finish. Texture is oily and relatively tight.
Not a bad IPA, although maybe not as many bells and whistles as some.
