Collaboration with Black Viking Brewing & Cajun Fire Brewing Company
Beltway, Cajun Fire and Black Viking breweries have joined together to brew this year's edition of Black is Beautiful with a unique twist - beignets straight from New Orleans! These delightful pastries combined with Madagascar vanilla beans and caramel malt bring a creme brulee quality to this stout and delicately balance the bold chocolate notes of the dark malt. Pouring a luxurious onyx hue, this "Big Easy" drinking stout will transport you to a quaint cafe in the French Quarter - all while supporting diversity in craft brewing. Cheers!

Poured from a 16oz can into pint glass in April 2022. This was canned on 1/4/2022, and I purchased it during my visit to their brewpub.
Appearance: Dark black with a thin tan/brown head. The head is 1-finger thick with fine bubbles. It lasts for a few minutes and ends with a very thin tan head. There is only a little lacing sticking to the glass. Typical Imperial Stout.
Smell: Strong coffee aroma as well as roasted malt. Also contrasting vanilla. Overall, the coffee and roasted malt dominate the others.
Taste: There is a mix of tart roasted malts and coffee flavors. Some vanilla flavors as well. There are some chocolate flavors to enhance the taste and add some complexity. There is a moderate alcohol presence, as whch matches the 7.1% on the can. The taste makes this different than other imperial stouts.
Mouth-feel: Moderate to thin, with a smooth and creamy body. More smooth than many other imperial stouts.
This is a good imperial stout, and it has a variety of flavors that adds some complexity to the beer. I also tried their Black Snake stout, which had more variety of flavors and a bigger mouthfeel. I would drink 'Black is Beautiful' again, but I prefer their 'Black Snake' stout.

Disappointing. Hopped up. Not even a hint of beignets.
