Grumbler poured into a snifter. Filled an hour or so ago.
A: Pours a clear very dark brown appearing black in the glass with a slightly tanned head on top. Leaves some lacing on the glass.
S: As with other Abandon beers I've tried this one has a great farmhouse grain character. A nuttiness certainly permeates the aroma as well as a bit of dark fruit and smokiness.
T: Well balanced flavor on this one. The nuttiness compliments the brown ale characteristics very nicely. The roastiness of the malts is pleasant and isnt as extreme as a porter. Mild dark fruits like raisin or plum and a touch of smokiness to round it out.
M: Medium body with slightly low carbonation. Has a creamy mouthfeel that goes down smoothly. Finish is clean and doesnt leave any unwanted stickiness.
Overall a real tasty brown ale with a great farmhouse type flavor. Reminds me a bit of a saison. Nuttiness is a pleasant addition to the style and in this case doesnt overpower.

This is kind of just a standard brown ale- there's some nice rich breadiness and caramel flavor. There's a little bit of light funk and fruitiness, I suppose that makes it a farmhouse brown ale.
