On cask at The Old Toad in Rochester, NY.
Pours fairly still looking, not much head or lacing. It's a dark brown beer.
Smells like sour cherries, some vinegar, and just flatness. Kind of boring.
I don't know if this has been too long in the cask, but it just doesn't taste good. I did talk to somebody who had the beer a few days ago on cask, and they also said it wasn't really any good. It's a watery cherry sour, with no complexity whatsoever. The cherries are vinegary and astringent, no sweetness to balance the unpleasant sourness. I like sours, but this doesn't work. I don't even know if it's supposed to be a sour, but the cherries just overwhelm anything and everything. Not getting any porter qualities, let alone any bourbon barrel aged porter qualities.
This one has a flat and sour mouthfeel, with a very low amount of carbonation. Not all that drinkable.
I love Abandon, but this one needs a lot of work. I'd like to try it on regular draught, maybe it would be better.
