This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a semi-rugged dark amber color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that slid off at a decent pace. The aroma had some toast, roasted nuts, caramel and toffee malts and then some grassy hops. The flavor mildly lends a hand to the roasty side and ending up bringing about the malts deceptively in upon the nuts. Somewhat sweet but somewhat blending on into the aftertaste and flowing into the finish in a decent way. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation with a good sturdy ABV that seemed appropriate. Overall, not a bad effort by an American brewer on an Irish red ale. I could see myself having it again.
