Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a dark muddy brown color with a finger’s worth of off white foamy head that dissipated pretty quick. Just a trickle of lace, slides into the beer. The aroma started smokey with some roasted dark malts, some chocolate then the cherries underneath. The flavor leads somewhat smokey and then roasty and sweet through the malts. Once again, the cherry seems barely there. Sky roasty to semi-sweet malty aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the palate with a good sipping quality about it. Mild carbonation and the ABV felt fine. Fairly smooth rolling over my tongue. Overall, I like the idea but the cherry seems barely there. Fans of smoked beers will probably like this one.
