Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a black color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a moderate pace. Subtle lace. The aroma had some roasted malts beating at some bitter sharp resinous piney substance. Uneven chocolate malts pound at the backside all around. The finish leans towards the roasty side and keeps the bitterness and the sweetness a little bit further away. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sipping quality because of the resinous strength that does end up imparting the expected harshness, but still dampens a bit with the malts pulling it into a slight balance. Overall, interesting black IPA that seems to have the feel set pretty good.
