Elaborate Metaphor is our take on a new New England style pale ale brewed with Citra and Amarillo hops. Brewed with barley, flaked oats, wheat, and raw wheat.

Off the 24 taps at Notch 8 in Bethel, CT. Look is a bright yellow haze. Just looking at it made me ache to drink up. Good and fresh with strong aromas of citrus and some tropical. Taste was the same and very smooth because of the oats, I suppose.
Very low bitterness. An excellent hazy DIPA!

I have been a "beer nerd" over four decades. I have observed the whole craft beer thing evolve from even before very inception-when I would home brew and I watched Newman's Brewery in Albany NY come and go in the early 1980's. My favorite style in the last few years has been new England hazy IPAs. What I really like are the "bigger" styles of these, which are often doubles. However, I am on a constant quest for relatively low alcohol examples that actually taste good. Elaborate Metaphor may be my favorite of all these. Another contender would be Other Half's "Forever Ever".

Poured from a 16oz can into a tulip glass. EM pours with a nice frothy head that streaks the glass and leaves a nice bit of lacing. Color can be described as mellow yellow and cloudy, much more neon than anticipated. Nose is peach, mango, stone fruit, apricot and a touch of grass. Flavor is delightful fresh bread with peach, mango, and apricot preserves and a grassy hop finish. EM’s mouthfeel is creamy and succulent, with a medium amount of carbonation and a medium body for its style. This release impressed me. Cheers!

Bought it because a friend recommended it. It is my new favorite. New England style.
Thought it was quite good first taste. After a few sips I thought it was really yummy. Low bitterness and creamy. Slightly fruity. Apricot.

Agree this is a finest example of NE APA that I have ever had. And I love APAs, since Dales was my first.
a) Opaque yellow body with lots of lace over a ring.
s) Oats, apricot dominant, plus peach, mango, melon, and a little cellar.
t) Follows with ample but balanced mango, peach puree, on oatmeal and french bread siting on a farmhouse porch with a bit of yard and grass aromas. Just enough bitter end.
f) Clean, great food beer, good weight, creamy.
o) Best NE APA. 3 for 3 for me at Burlington.

Fresh pint can poured into a Samuel Smith’s Euro Pint glass.

Hazy. Golden yellow-orange dyed wheat color. Fluffy white cap, less than a F but lasting. Waves of lacing.

Citrus soaked wheat. Aromas of grapefruit, orange, and lemon.

Lightly sweetened barley combined with the citrus hop loaded wheat. Very tasty.

Medium bodied. The wheat and oats provide a chew. Hoppy with low bitterness and a clean finish. Slight ne-juice.

It definitely fits the category, APA from New England. It blends.

6 oz draft pour at Lures Bar & Grille in Crownsville, MD. Pours a hazy light yellow color with a moderate head. Aroma and flavor feature grapefruit, orange peel, moderate bitterness, and light malt. Mouthfeel is not as smooth as I'd prefer. Overall a decent not-quite-NE-style pale ale.

Cloudy, dirty gold color. Small but lasting head which provides wide streaks of lace throughout the tasting.

Clean hop aroma with the pale malt definitely in the background. More bitter than prickly.

I first note the higher carbonation, enhanced by the thinner body. The malt stands out more than the smell. The hop is more spice-like here providing a well-balanced finish and shorter aftertaste. I do get notes of pineapple and pine but they are subtle.
