The other growlette from the brewery.
This was served in a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a pretty thick dark brown close to black color brimming with a two finger tan foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Slight lace ran in a semi-filmy to foamy way.
The aroma had some sweet to dry and roasted coffee beans with a sly earthy to nutty crisp underneath and then some dark chocolate with a little bite even further back.
The flavor was moderately sweet with an ample amount of roastiness and earthiness coming in for a sly balance. Rich sweet to dark and roasty with some nuts in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt on par. ABV felt appropriate. Nice crisp to roasty, nutty and dark coffee grind in the finish.
Overall, pretty similar to the other variant of this porter, but I do see the differences. This was very well done, but perhaps personally, I think I liked the other one a bit more.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip glass.

Pours a dark muddy brown color with a finger of caramel head. The head has moderate retention, leaving some splotchy lacing before settling into a film. Under the proper lighting this looks like straight diarrhea.

The aroma is just booming with roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Slightly grainy, with just the foggiest hint of spicy hops on the back end.

The flavor is more chocolate forward, with some notes of caramel and dark roasted grains not far behind. The coffee comes through in the finish, leaving a bitter yet pleasant aftertaste.

The body is a bit on the thin side, with moderate carbonation. Very smooth with no alcohol presence.

Overall, a good coffee porter that definitely delivers with the aroma, but unfortunately doesn't quite hit the spot with the flavor. The chocolate and caramel notes are tasty, but I definitely wanted the coffee to be more than an afterthought. Still, a tasty brew that I'll gladly drink again.
