Like drinking a chocolate mint cookie. Deep mint, good bitterness. Excellent.

Drinking out of a medium snifter.
Pours a dark black with a minimal head.
Smells almost medicinal.
Reasonable mouth feel.
Strong taste of mint and chocolate.
Ok, but too much stuff was added, as often happens with BBCO.

16oz can

Pours maybe a finger of brown head into my nonic. Retention is average, maybe a touch below. Body is dark as night. Looks fine so far.

Nose is very pleasant. Light mint, not overpowering. Small notes of roasted malt. Maybe some chocolate, but it’s barely there. Very clean overall. Smells delicious, kinda maybe smells like beer? Hopefully it tastes like beer.

Definitely still tastes like beer, this is pretty good. Mint dances on the tongue, lingers a little bit, but lets other flavors through. Roasty flavor is a nice supporting character. Not getting much chocolate, touch of coffee though. I don’t love lactose in beers, but much more acceptable in a stout than an IPA. Pretty great flavor here.

The mouthfeel starts off like velvet, just super clean and smooth, the mint creates a cooling feeling as well. Carbonation is quite low, I’m hesitant to say that it works in this beer, but I think it does. Maybe just the smallest chocolate bitterness. Sugars are somewhat prominent, and linger a bit as the beer warms, but they are not super gross and malt extracty. Something a little drier would be preferable though. The mint does a lot of work here. Not a bad mouthfeel.

Drinkability is super high, this is a tasty beer.

Appearance turned out not so hot, literally zero lacing down this glass.

Overall a pretty damn tasty, clean stout. Sugars could be a little bit more in check, but pretty good overall. Mint is tasty and provides good feel.

Pours a pitch black hue with a huge brown head into my glass. Good whiff of mint and cocoa in nose with some milkiness. Sweet, rich, mint-chocolate goodness with a touch of roasted coffee. Finish is amazing, reminding me strongly of Thin Mints of the Girl Scout variety. Minty, cocoa goodness. The mint actually grows intense the more you quaff. Take it easy. Warms the palate.

16 oz. can.
8.0% abv.
No canning date.
Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch tan head over a black body with no lacing. Nose of chocolate, mint, and slight roasted malt. Taste mirrors nose in a lackluster sort of way. Yet another BBCo lactose miss as the feel is way short of what an Impy Stout should have. Overall, not bad, but was expecting better. Cheers!
