Pours a murky brown, not much lace or head to speak of, draft pour.

Aroma is sweet, brown sugars, loads of maple, fruit cake, soft.

Taste sweet maple, toffee, sugary, cognac, smooth not warm at all light spice in the finish.

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy approaching full.

Overall a nice little sipper that could get you in trouble.

Poured from bottle, the body is a dark brown. Not much head and no lacing for this English style barleywine

Aroma is cognac barrel and a wee note of maple. Taste follows nose and the flavors are more powerful than the aroma. The aging in cognac barrels imparts a lovely flavor, soft and tasty without any burn, which marries well with the maple. As the barleywine warms, the sweetness increases as more maple is tasted. Added flavors of toffee, oak and dark chocolate.

Good mouthfeel, soft and luxurious. Not much carbonation.

sampling a 500 ml bottle that I picked up at a shop in Vermont a few months ago. My bottle says 11% not the 12% posted here.
Pouring at cellar temp into my snifter the beer is a clear mahogany color and rests basically the same in my glass. A soft creamy beige head foams up about 1 cm and fades to a sturdy surface covering that remains throughout the sampling.
Aroma is toffee and brown sugar with a bit of vanilla as well. Toffee carries the day, not very maple on the nose. Not boozy and no hops either.
First sip reveals a nice medium body with slightly sticky texture and smooth rolling carbonation.
Beer flavor is toffee and caramel with almost butterscotch quality, but doesnt seem diacetyl based. No maple, no cognac, no hops and not boozy. I was hoping for more complexity of the beer and a bit more maple coming through the tasting experience.
Overall, the beer is fine, I enjoy it , but it isnt meeting my expectations based on the brewery and the label. Im not sure I would buy this one again, only because its less than expected, not because it is actually bad.

My third beer from Burlington & looking for the first great one, hoping it’s here contained in this 500ML bottle. Certainly sounds appealing.

Dark brown with a fiery rim of flame red; no head very quickly. A touch of maple, caramel, & Japanese rice paper in the nose.

Mahogany & Tweed is tame. There’s a moderate amount of maple here mixed in with the generalized sweetness of the beer, but the cognac is nigh imperceptible, showing only a faint bit of the finish. Toffee, vanilla, with a slight tang of wood in the background. Thin. But hey, I’m not going to let any of this go to waste.

A bit disappointed that the stars are speaking in whispers, but perhaps that’s my issue. Pretty good brew.

A Tavour Treat. Pours a medium dark brown color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of dark fruits. Taste is sweet and tangy with a good alcohol warmth. No hoppy bitterness. Enjoyable!

2022 can.

Murky brown color. Not much head.

This is a really solid BW. The maple isn’t overly sweet or cloying and it goes well with the cognac. Lots of caramel and toffee. Some vanilla. Plums, figs, raisins, molasses. More English than American. Not hoppy at all. Slightly on the dessert side of things but not a pastry wine.

Lightly hazy deep copper in color without much of a head.
Rich brown sugar and caramel maltiness with plenty of maple and a hint of dark fruit and alcohol. Great sipper.

From a 2022 vintage 16 oz. can sampled on May 7, 2022.

Attractive looking mahogany pour with maroon hues when held to the light. A modest tan head fades to a ring.

The aroma expresses roasted caramel malts, maple, earth, ash, Graham crackers, prunes but no alcohol for an 11 percenter.

Medium-full mouthfeel. Creamy smooth.

The taste is abundantly sweet thanks to the maple characters along with the roasted caramel malts, dark fruit, char, and earth. Again, like the aroma there is no alcohol that I can taste. This finishes warm. A delightful brew.
