dinged (if you could call it that?) for appearance, as it’s pretty murky. but for a beer with so much shit going on, it sings from start to finish. the base brings your classic barleywine profile and the oak really augments the more candy-like flavors (has anyone not enjoyed a barrel ages barleywine?). but extra points for the finish. i was skeptical that a beer this big to have all that berry at the end, but ultimately proven wrong.

Well this is interesting. The fruit elements are subdued and well incorporated. I get the raspberry and cherry, I can't find the blueberry. The wine barrel is more prominent than the bourbon barrel, more vinous than boozy. I'm getting some candied apple and toffee. The body is thick and creamy. The alcohol is extremely well masked, the glass is draining dangerously quickly.
This is unique and approachable, glad I got the pack and not just a single.
