Deep tan head, crests maybe at one finger and sizzles off quickly to a thin surface dusting. The liquid is a coppery red to brown, at least the initial pour has some clarity and translucency. Nose of raisins and figs, buttermilk, caramelized brown sugar and good smokiness with any real oaky char, the blueberries at this point in its evolution appear to be receding but still there, overall light nostril presence. Full-bodied, carbonation is moderate but at least in my experience it's good for the category. Clean finish. Before that there's abundant caramel and toffee alongside lighter mineral water and smoke notes. Here the blueberries shine much brighter. Again, enjoying the fact that the oak treatment is not dominating. And sure it's sweet but not cloyingly so. No barleywine is "poundable" but this is in the neighborhood. If I had any more I'd probably drink them sooner rather than later to keep the blueberry flavor strongly in the mix.

Can to snifter.

Go Lehigh!

LOOK: Medium brown color. Murky. Small beige head. Fades. Retention is difficult.

Aroma: blueberry, apple , grape, little touches of fermenting barley and oak.

Taste: grape, apple, orange up front. Darker fruits in the back...raisin, blackberry and of course blueberry. Also, rummy fruitcake. Cloves. Pretty tasty.

Feel: medium body, respectable carbonation for the style

Very nice for a young barleywine. Not sure how the blueberry would age, but this is solid as it is fresh.

Thx to Knapp85 for sharing this.

A - Opaque, murky raison color with thin, dense lacing.

S - Toasted sweet toffee aroma, light blueberry, light grape wine aroma.

T - Toasted toffee and oak / oak tannin base with subtle blueberry and pinot grapes blended in perfectly. The heat is kept to an absolute minimum...very nice.

M - Thick, viscous, and sticky on the lips.

O - This is a fantastic 'Barley and highly recommended.

Pours as a murky brownish red color with basically no head. The smell of the beer has a big malt/caramel profile with some blueberry coming through. The taste, the taste of this been has basically all the toffee, caramel and the sweetness you’d want along with a massive blueberry profile. Honestly quite impressive in my opinion. The feel of the beer is full bodied, mild carbonation. Overall pretty glad I grabbed this one. They did a great job with this beer!
