2024 vintage poured from a 500 ml bottle into a snifter
Appearance -The beer glugs from the bottle looking like motor oil. You can tell its going to be super thick. The deep-deep brown brew has a tiny fizzy brown head that fades very fast. Upon swirling the brew in the snifter its thickness is further realized with heavy and sticky fingers of brew that cling to the sides of the glass and slowly recede back to the base upon stopping of the swirl.
Smell – the aroma is massive of a brown sugar and molasses smell mixed with tons of roasted malt and a big showing of coffee. At eh same time there is a dark bitter sweet chocolate and some notes of milk, vanilla, and crème. Other big notes of bourbon and smoke and a whole lot of wood are there as well, producing a very rich and robust, dark and roasty smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a bitter coffee mixed with a massive sweetness of molasses, caramel, and brown sugar. At the same time there is ample toasted and roasted malts mixed with a strong char flavor. There is a bit of dark chocolate as well, with this taking on more and more milk chocolate flavors as notes of milk, vanilla, and crème arrive on the scene. The bourbon while light upfront gets quite a bit more intense as the brew flavor profile transitions on the tongue, producing a warming dark, roasty, oaky, and boozy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is ridiculously syrupy with a lower carbonation level. A bit much on the palate, but in some ways appropriate. OK, I guess.
Overall – A bit cloying overall. Just a bit too thick, sweet, and rich for my taste. At least at the alcohol content of 11.6 %. Needs a bit more attenuation more on the malt bill in order to drop the malt and increase the abv, producing a more balanced taste and feel overall.

2024 Vintage
Pours a light fizzy brown head with low retention, a little lacing, decent legs, jet black beer
Nose lots of coffee, fresh roasted coffee, plenty of barrel as well with bourbon barrel juice, vanilla oak, baking spices, juicy whiskey, some dark chocolate, cocoa, fudgey, nutty and slightly fruity coffee, big bright fresh coffee and bourbon barrel
Taste starts with the cocoa, dark chocolate, fudgey, almost raw cocoa nibs level of chocolate, into vanilla spice and vanilla ice cream from the barrel, as well as some baking spices, more bourbon barrel, juicy barrel, then comes the coffee, some roast but more like fresh nutty coffee grounds especially on the back end, chewy nougat and mild roasted malt, a bit of caramel, mild smooth alcohol, finishes a bit dry actually, with a lot more of the fresh coffee
Mouth is full bod, rich chewy and a bit velvety creamy, med to lower carb, light warming alcohol
Overall this was very nice, reminds me of the original Coffee BCBS when they were still good, but the barrel on this came through so much, quite nice
