Warm-fermented and then cold-conditioned, this refreshing golden ale is Queen City’s interpretation of Kölsch, the great beer style of Cologne, Germany. Containing 100% German pilsner malt, City Beer has a subtle, grainy aroma and a delicate bitterness in the finish. (ABV 5.0% IBU 30)

On tap at Growler Garage. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a ruddy burnt orange almost yellow color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head that dissipated immediately. The smell takes off sweet corn and light bready adjuncts. The taste was mainly the same with a light dry bready to malty aftertaste. Light smooth finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Overall, I say this was a pretty good sessionable kolsch. Would be a good food beer. I’d have again.

Pretty decent Kolsch. The aroma is nearly non-existent but the flavors are nice and the feel is crisp and refreshing.
A highly drinkable beer and a fair representation of the style. Would definitely get this one again.

L - pale and light. Straw.
S - wheaty, slight floral spices. Not much else.
T - coriander with bready malts. Extremely light and bounces right off the tongue. Pleasantly surprised with the refreshing faint mango on the finish and long into the aftertaste.
F - light, to be expected. Actually felt better than some of their other "heavier" beers. Good example of what a kolsch is all about.
O - not amazing, but not a half bad summery beer. Huge fan of that hidden mango flavor you gotta work for. Subtly complex.

Gold color and crystal clear. Great ring lace for the first two sips. Small head even for a bar pour.
Fresh, frosty aroma of pale malt.
Light grain, which I appreciate. Mostly pale malt. Very light hop and body. Very true to style.

Poured beautifully and slightly darker than expected for akolsch from a growler.
The nose is clean, as you would expect from a Kolsch, with a hint of grapefruit.
The mouth feel is creamy, without feeling oily.
This beer finishes with the crisp clean make flavor you would expect from Kolsch.
Over all, this beer is possibly the finest example of an American Kolsch I have been able to try! Looking forward to enjoying it in the summer time next year.
