Notes:
Queen City’s unfiltered wheat beer, produced exclusively from German malt, wheat, and hops, is complex and refreshing. The large percentage of wheat provides a pleasant creaminess and long-lasting head, while our distinctive yeast produces subtle banana- and clove-like notes in both the aroma and flavor, which perfectly balance the bready character of the malt. A stern pour from a 12-oz. can yields a skinny finger of white soapy foam with below average retention and spots of lace.
Yellowish straw color, appears orange straw in sunlight. Cloudy, can't read through it.
The smell is lemon 1st with cracker, wheat thins, wheat bread dough, faint clove and floral hops. It smells as if it l would be sweet to the taste. These item follow to the taste minus the lemon
Wheat leads the taste, neutral on sweetness with a balanced mild bitterness of hops and spice. The malt taste is wheat bread and dough, on the rich side. There is a slight astringency yet alcohol is well hidden. The finish is wheaty and malty, long yet ends clean. Not much of an aftertaste, faint hops and clove.
Medium-light bodied with soft, plentiful carbonation. It has the expected wheaty bite with a refreshing, almost crisp feel.
The label has an accurate description of this beer, however I do not detect banana and the head shrunk away a little to soon. Barvarian-style Wheat Beer, well played.

FRom the can, it pours a hazy light golden amber with virtually not head. Some banana notes in the nose, along with a bit of bread. Taste has a bit of bread and a touch more hops than one would expect from a wheatbier. Not bad, but not a bavarian style hefeweizen.

I tried this beer at the brewery. It poured a hazy orangish with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had faint banana and clove notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with banana and clove spice presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.

Pours hazy cloudy gold with a creamy white foam head with good retention. Smells like apple, pear, banana, clove spice, bready wheat, toasty cereal grain, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like creamy bready wheat, toasty cereal grain, apple, pear, banana, clove spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy and soft with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice hefeweizen.

This was poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was a hazy golden burnt yellow color with a soft white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some sliding stringy lacing. The smell started off with banana esters weaving inside of some spicy clove. Light bubblegum balances nicely. The taste copied the smell and carried a nice settling sweet to spicy aftertaste leading to a wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice spicy to sweet sessionable feel all around. Overall, as a hefeweizen, it’s true to style, hits all of the marks and makes a fantastic Summer session.

On-tap 3/17/2016 at Battleship Brewhouse in Fall River, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep yellow color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains bananas, wheat, caramelized malts and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of bananas, caramel and citrus. Then a strong breadiness comes in from wheat and a hearty malt character. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a very solid beer to drink for a long time if you’re in the mood for the style.

Had at Queen City during a tour. Pours a classic hefeweizen color, golden and cloudy with a small head.
Smell is pretty much benchmark, lemon like twang from the wheat, hefeweizen spices. Flavor wise good dough note up front, semi sweet, hints of lemon, finishes with the clove spices.
Well made, benchmark. Nothing crazy and easy going.

Queen City Brewery "Hefeweizen"
on tap at the brewery on 7 June 2016
Notes: Typical appearance: hazy golden body beneath a bright white head that holds fairly well and leaves spotty and splashy lace as it goes. The aroma is phenolic with plastic/clove, green banana, and lemon over a wheaty malt base. The flavor follows, as expected. Moderately bitter as expected, and subtly tart, leading to a perfect balance if you like your weizen a little drier. Light-medium in body with a zesty carbonation, but nowhere near that of a bottled weizen level. Refreshing and tasty.

Bottle from Acton
Mostly clear light golden color with a smallish white head that dissipates quickly. Spicy wheat and a hint of fruit and earth with a touch of clove on the nose. Sweet bready maltiness with hints of light stone fruit. Light banana and clove with bits of earthy spicy yeasty flavor. Medium body with a light level of carbonation. <BR> It's really clear, even with a swirl of the bottle to touch up my glass, it should be cloudy with yeast. The carbonation is really light in my bottle, and maybe a bit of carbonic bite would help add a bit of tart to cut through the somewhat sweet character of this beer. Its a clean well made beer, but needs a few tweaks to really stand out.

From a 22 oz bomber.
A: Goldenrod color. Head diminishes quickly but is a nice ivory white.
S: Primarily wheat with stronger pils and clove that leads to a spicier scent.
M: Creamy if a little heavy midway thru. Lightens up nicely at end.
T: Banana, bubblegum, clove. Pretty straightforward and a banner brew for the style. Trends toward the pithy, banana in flavor. Pretty good for an American hefe.

a tasty but very generic hefeweizen. my first from this newer operation. i really like the way it looks, a little darker shade of golden than most, and not super cloudy, but very very heady, tall and lasting pure white. it smells and taste the part, banana notes from the yeast, fermented on the warmer side, a little bubblegum going on, but not too sweet. its very boldly flavored, almost entirely from the yeast, and is a little abrasive in that regard, not as smooth and easy drinking as the best examples of the style. lots of wheat means lots of body, creamy and big, a good platform for the fruity yeast flavor, but it does more for the feel than the taste, and there seems to be something lacking there in the middle. i do like the bolder beer, but in hot weather i think its a bit much, try me again on this in february and ill probably think its epic. id be curious to try some more of their other stuff.
