Hazy dark copper body with an average, creamy, tan head, mostly lasting with nice lacing.
Moderate malty (caramel, roasted) aroma with notes of red fruits and light spices related to alcohol.
Moderate-to-heavy sweet and light bitter flavour with a very light acidic note; long-lasting sweetish finish.

Blind-tasted appart from the name/ABV
L- Dark ruby-chestnut with veeery minor haze into a 3cm dark (for a beer) tan rocky foam cap.
S- Stewed fruits.
T- Follows the smell, quite bright yet with a malty base. The brightness is really clever, it almost makes this feel light. Well not that light, but it brings a lovely balance. Btw the foam cap is still 15mm, nice.
F- It's different in that it feels robust, you sense it is, but the ABV note is super-subtle. It melts away into the bright note in the taste. That's very clever brewing.
O- I started this chilled from the fridge. So far I've had no concern about any rich>sweet cross-over as I slowly sip away and it warms a touch. Ooph, it's becoming 'proper gutsy' this one. What a lovely beer, I'd very happily buy this one again!
Plastic lable shrunk-wrapped onto the bottle, with a 'zip-strip' along the length so the wrap can be removed for recycling. First time I've seen this on a bottle - clever.
---------------
Now rated/reviewed in draft^ I'll look at the bottle for clues:
BB 04/10/26 'Top-fermented dark abbey beer, contains barley [the only grain it lists]. Bought from Beers of Europe, UK. I see it was £4.29 ouch, but yeah I can see that too this is head and shoulders, waaay above the pedestrian...
Edit/add: translated from the brewery website, so smile at the mangled words eh?:
'Christmas beer 9
Our limited-ended Christmas beer. From a slightly coppery dress, this intensely caramelized brown beer is distinguished by a palette of delicious flavors and powerful and spicy aromas. This beer will delight all lovers of strong browns.
Tasting
Tickling characterized by a caramelized odour
Coffee and rum invades his nose. Its taste is dominated by an intense body where caramel notes and a discreet touch of hops combine. The aftertaste is intense and persistent.
% ABV: 9% Plato scale: 18
Ideal consumption temperature: 10-12 C
Food pairing:
Refined dishes, foie gras, duck breast.
