The deep, almost luminous, mahogany brown color harmonizes with a nutty, toffee-like aroma. Not the least bit cloying, but the “biscuity” malt flavors linger well into the next sip. And the next… And the next…

Had a pint, with dinner at the restaurant after PSU-Alaska hockey game.
LOOK: Dark brown with very little head that was gone in seconds. Absence of side glass lace.
AROMA: Malts with some toasted bread, a little sweet caramel.
TASTE: Malts base is good. Flavor is OK , carbonation is poor and this beer was flat.
FEEL: Thin body.

Tap at the brewery
Light head fades quickly, no lacing, semi clear auburn brown colour
Nose toasted brown malts, little caramel, brown sugar note, little biscuit toasted malt,
Taste similar, lighter side, toasted biscuit grainy malt, sweet caramel and brown sugar, grainy brown malts
Mouth is med bod, fluffy carb
Overall ok, but a bit boring, browns in general can be boring so it's hard to knock it, nothing bad with it either just doesn't go the extra step to make a brown interesting

This was our favorite from the Happy Valley stop on our State College beer tour, so I picked up a growler. Poured into a standard pint glass: color is brown, a little dense, head is light tan and presents about 1/2 inch thick, light lacing.
Aroma is well balanced: nice malt aromas are dominant with subdued earthy hop flavors. Malt aromas are biscuit, nutty, some toffee and toast.
Taste is very similar to the aroma with the malt flavors becoming even more apparent. Malt flavors are a blend of biscuit, toffee and a light nuttiness. Very subtle earthy hop flavors, but just enough to counter the light sweetness.
Mouthfeel is very good, nice carbonation level, clean lingering flavors.
Overall, a very, very good beer - always appreciate a solid brown ale and like to see this one stands out in their lineup.
