The color is pitch-black, but this beer is eminently sessionable. The distinctive notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee are hard to resist. Nitrogenation at the tap produces a creamy, satisfying mouth-feel that is followed by a surprisingly clean, dry finish.

Happy Valley Brewing Co. "Phamily Phyrst"
$5/pint @ Local Whiskey, State College, PA on 8 August 2017
Notes: Oatmeal stout with a black body and creamy tan head. Excellent head retention and lacing. There's a subtle roastiness in the aroma, and just a touch of chocolate. The flavor follows. It's very smooth. There's a hint of golden/medium caramel to it, and a low-level bitterness. Quite pleasant.

Nitro tap at the brewery, one of my fav winter styles
Rich creamy thick nitro head that never fades, dark jet black color
Nose nitro out front, past that mild roast, dark chocolate undertones, little caramel and biscuity malt, sweet oatmeal
Taste very creamy and loads of chocolate, creamy milk blended bakers chocolate, Swiss choc, little toasty and roasty dark malt, mild sweet oatmeal, plenty of creamy nitro, little malt bitterness, juicy dark malt
Mouth is med bod very creamy lush, creamy nitro carb
Overall enjoyable, nitro works here but wish I could try it without as well, seems like a nice base oatmeal stout that gets a little too creamy nitro overpowered

Very generic but inoffensive dry stout. Light roasted malt, light coffee, vague chocolate, a little bit watery, run of the mill but doesn't do anything bad

part of a flight on draft at champs sports bar in Altoona, pa.
looks excellent in the 5oz glass, pitch black with a generous oatmeal colored head.
Not much on the nose, a whiff of roasted malt.
taste is milky, quite smooth, malt not overly roasted, but no overly sweet either.
feel and mouth was on the thin side.
overall an okay sessionable stout.

A good looking dark stout with a heavy coffee and chocolate aroma and finish. Not quite the head of a Murphys or Guiness but a solid stout for us Happy Valley fans.

Guinness look, Guinness feel, but better than a Guinness. No carbonation whatsoever. Light and nothing crazy from this stout. Drinkable but let's move on to the next one

Had on draft at the brewery. Light body, but nice balanced flavor with a clean finish.
