Tap at the brewery
Huge fluffy foamy mocha head fades slowly tons of messy dark lacing, pitch black
Nose big dark malt, roasty, dark choc, mocha java chocolate coffee roast, little sweet creme Brule, background dark fruits fig date like and touch of cinnamon and spice, raw cocoa
Taste starts with dark chocolate, raw cocoa, and plenty of cinnamon, even a bit spicy from it, touch if dark fruits fig date like, creamy cocoa, bakers choc, little roast and coffee, mocha, burnt molasses, caramel, etc, fair bitterness little spicy hop and bitterness from the roasted malts, drier sticky finish, hint of booze, lingering molasses, cinnamon and cocoa
Mouth is fuller bod, little creamy lush, thicker almost, fluffy carb
Overall nice heavy winter beer but still drinkable and enjoyable, great combo of flavors

Billed as a winter warmer but then right in the description says it is a Russian imperial oatmeal stout, so it is shooting a wide arc. It fails to really hit any, though. Very hoppy for any of those styles, and some traces of fusel alchohol too...you can pick out some mocha flavor, but it is just too messy on the whole

Had on-tap at the Happy Valley Brewing Company pub. Poured into a goblet.
L: Pours a dark reddish amber color. Three fingers of thick off-white head. Great lacing.
S: Not much of a nose... malts and biscuits.
T/F: Flavor follows the nose in that there isn't a whole lot going on. More malty than anything but not flavor really stands out. There is a bit of hop presence, but mostly warming and a little boozy. Very smooth and creamy on the mouthfeel.
O: Not a lot to recommend this beer... and no strong flavors stand out. Expected much more. Would not have again.

I tried this on tap at Happy Valley Brewing company served chilled in a glass.
The color is dark amber with good clarity and thin tan head. The smell has a nice spice aroma with some sweetness from the malt. The feel is a good balance of both malt and spice with moderate carbonation and semi-dry finish
The taste is good with a mild graham cracker like quality with a mild vanilla and perhaps cinnamon in the taste adding to the flavor of the winter warmer. This is a good ale for the style with subtle spice to keep it interesting.
