Had on-tap at the brewpub. Poured into a Pub-club mug.

L: Nearly clear medium to light golden pour. 1.5 fingers of foamy white head. Nice lacing.

S: Mild hops... citrus and Belgian yeast.

T/F: Grains and Belgian yeasts but not overpoweringly so. Fairly mild really... some nice lemon citrus character and a bit of resin but not overly bitter/hoppy. Medium to light in body... well carbonated. Finish is clean.

O: A mild low ABV Belgian style IPA. Nothing all that special but not bad either. Prefer their Barnstormer.

Happy Valley Brewing Co. "Hop Goblin"
on tap @ Station 101, DuBois, PA on 30 January 2015
$5 / pint

Notes: Listed at 4.8% ABV; "Belgian Session IPA". Mostly clear golden-amber body beneath a finger-thick head of white. Decent head retention and lacing. Floral and citrusy aroma with just a hint of Belgian character. The flavor offers a grainy/bready malt with a little more fruitiness but not much in the way of yeasty phenols, which is OK (probably fermented cool). Stiff bitterness. Crisp with a medium-light body. Quite drinkable but nothing really stands out.

Had on draft at the brewery. Strong grassy and waxy taste, more like a Belgian Pale Ale than a Belgian IPA. Clean, but not right for the style.
