Every brewery nowadays must have an IPA of sorts. Just like peanut butter and jelly in the pantry, an IPA is an American staple. This IPA is true to the style guidelines. What does that mean for you? It means this is not a bitter bomb, hopagedon type IPA. This beer has a healthy dose of several varieties of hops. However, we do it in a balanced fashion so the grist bill comes through just as well as the hops. We use our house ale yeast to provide the balance in hop aroma and yeast esters.

Hazy, yellow-orange body; sticky, white head. Dank, wet grass smell; old peeled orange fruit. Low-key, bready malt flavor with a sweet, citrus angle; grapefruit; tart hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; stinging bitterness; dry finish.
A very delicious English-styled IPA with taste emphasis on the orange/grapefruit side of things. There's a fair amount of lingering hop bitterness that makes this a tad more aggressive than some examples of this style. Still, there's enough malt grain character to offer some balance to things. Wet, sticky, juicy, and enjoyable...

A: Orange/light amber hue with just under a finger of off-white head that disappears quickly. Just a little bit of lacing.
S: There is a faint note of piney bitterness, but otherwise, the smell is very malt-heavy.
T: Follows suit from the smell: nice, mild hop bitterness up front, balanced out by pale malt backbone. Hops linger though, drying out your mouth.
M: About what you'd expect from an IPA/pale, fairly light with decent carbonation.
O: Not bad. Fits the bill of English IPA fairly well - malt-driven with a touch of hop to round it out. Got this one for free, so I was happy to try it out, but I don't think I would buy it myself.

called an english ipa, im not sure this quite gets there. still a bit pale on the malt front, and a bit dominated by the hops. it could stand a little more crystal malt balance to really fit the bill, but i like this as it is. the hops may be a bit generic in terms of varietals and schedules and all of that, but they are well weighted and timed, and i think this beer has a very pleasant hop profile all in all. perhaps a little more bitterness than it needs to be real drinkable, it gets quite bitter on the back end, especially as it warms. similarly, the alcohol is approaching the imperial range, and is a little more than i need if i am going to make a night out of this stuff. still, i enjoy it very much for what it is. great mouthfeel, good and rich and bubbly, palate coating but clean finishing. the mark of a well made beer. not as unique or bold as their berliner, but a nice follow up to it commercially.
