Browns originated in England as did soccer. We used the full range of acceptable ABV, SRM and IBU in developing this recipe, just as the touch line lets you use the full field of play. With a malty aroma and low hop bitterness, this beer traverses the line between a brown ale and a porter. This is a true example of a Southern English Brown. Mild hop bitterness and flavor from the noble hops used with a strong malty aroma and finish, this beer is great year round when you want a robust flavor profile with a moderate body.

maybe the lightest brown ale i have ever had. not sure if its a good thing or a band thing, a fun session beer in that its not a watery blonde ale or a hop tea, but it is definitely missing some of the necessities in the style i think. its paler in color, see through and think on the head, and the nose, while showing some dry chocolate malt character, doesnt seem all there. the flavor is fine, clean grain and a mild english ale yeast, but its definitely lacking the depth i look for in the style. its also really lacking in body, just super thin, and so the little residual sugar thats there and would ordinarily be a nice balance, seems like a lot, and the beer finishes a lot sweeter than it starts. i see the appeal though, especially this time of year, i just think this is a level or two below the very high quality other beers i have had from grist so far. unexciting i suppose is the best way to say it.
