Color: Golden straw color...very little lacing.

Smell: Very strong smell of somewhat bitter coffee. Small amount of hop aroma but mostly covered up by the coffee. Little bit of roast.

Taste: Coffee with roastiness and a quite of bit of frutiness in the end. A little bit of hop bitterness.

Feel: Lighter feel than a regular stout. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Feels like a combo of a blonde and stout that feels a little disjointed and doesn't fully come together.

seems a whole lot of brewers are doing these white or blonde stouts lately. stone got the ball rolling i think, and a lot of smaller guys have come out with them since. this is a good take on it, really crystal clear sunny colored brew, not much head on it, but insanely light for something billed as a stout, thats for sure. it smells like a stout, like a coffee stout really. i get the roast of coffee beans right away, but also some roasted malt bitterness, the sweetness of the lactose, and maybe some oats for texture and body. the flavor is very good, with the coffee coming first and an amazing degree of roast, even burnt character, for a beer this color. the thing that throws me though is how sweet it is. it doesnt need the milk sugar at all, certainly not at this level, and it slows me down drinking it, makes it warm up diabetic, and overshadows an otherwise geniusly comprised beer. i still enjoyed it, it has the right thickness and palate coating properties of a good stout, and its totally different, especially for a newer brewery, creative and well made. scale the sweetness back by about half and this is a real gem.
