From notes taken 09/18/16:
Not layered, just a dull, copper brown. Clear and capped with foamy, creamy-tan head of great retention, with excellent but sparse lacing in this nonic pint. Roasty, toasty, sweet, touch of chocolate and toffee on the nose, more so Porter than Pilsner. Much the same to my palate, seems just a watered down Porter. Bit of dark fruitiness from the Porter side presumably, evolving to a tart metallic finish. Medium-bodied as expected, slightly thicker than water, with soft and fine tingles and an astringent ending. First tried this on a month-long vacation in Arizona back in Summer 2014. So hot out, needed to stay refreshed with different libations. Liked it. Not a top shelf beer by any means, but a fun “style” and I really dig the bottle. If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time I’ve had it or any other pre-blended Black & Tan since. I have enjoyed making my own a time or two with different styles of Guinness and various pale ales and lagers.
