A thanks to my comrade, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 1/2 liter brown plastic bottle. Has a dark chestnut color with no head at all. Smell is strong of dark breads, Taste is also bready, molasses, a touch on the sweet side. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Boy, if I didn't catch enough flak during NBS Week 731, today's New Back to the Beer Future Sunday, Part 3, Mission II, (Week 761) is really gonna bring me down! I have solidly returned to a Sunday of Kvasses & while I CAN't be happier, many are unhappy with me as an Amerikanski. 8=( This was part of a recent score while in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

Ooh, Latvian Kvass! Someone on the Historic West End here in Lancaster has a Latvian flag flying on their second story & I am very curious as to their connection.
Mine was a wee 0.5-L plastic bottle, so I poured ~ half of it into the awaiting glass & recapped the bottle, sealing it with duct tape for @tone77 to pick up next weekend. This one had very low carbonation, barely fizzing as it entered the glass & creating ZERO head. Hmm. Color was Coppery-Brown (SRM = > 17, < 22) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a treacle-like quality, at once both sweet & sour with a slight chocolatiness. Hmm. Mouthfeel was thin & watery. The taste was odd, like an herbal cough drop had been liquefied with chocolate powder & treacle added. It was not bad, per se, but it was unlike anything else today & those were some oddballs. I think that the big drawback to this one was its inherent, unrelenting sweetness. Finish was sweet, too sweet for my taste. YMMV.

Rigas Kvass has a medium amount of foam. Rigas Kvass has a vague sour taste mixed with sweetness. Rigas Kvass has low carbonation. People who enjoy a sweet and sour flavour of low carbonation kvass will enjoy Rigas Kvass. I am the person who posted the photo of Rigas Kvass.
