this is a fresh hop pale ale done with citra, the lighter of their two wet hopped beers in here, and well made as they go, but like the other one, it tastes a little bit generic, a little like what everyone else in the region is doing with the same hops. i get that the ingredients have a limited profile, and that brewers want to keep malt and yeast character out of the way of the special wet hops, but there is nothing at all here to make this stand out from the crowd, and while i enjoy my pint, its just a beer, and did nothing really to endear me to thunder island at all. i love their space though, right on the river there, and to be able to drink wet hopped beers with hops that must have come from so close by, is a treat, regardless of the beer lacking ambition. i do get a little more orange off of this than i normally do from citra, and some more intense dank characteristics, its more robust as a wet one than as a pellet, less soft anyway, tangerine and indica and even a little bitterness. the grain is super light here, lighter than their other wet hop beer by a lot, its dry and it finishes fast, so the hops pop at the end. great carbonation, and the beer is technically quite good. overall a fine pale ale, neat with the single hop profile of citra, but maybe not as engaging as i wanted it to be. ill have to get back here next time and try their other beers, but i couldnt skip the wet hops when in this part of the world in the fall!
