Midnight black, light nose. An odd taste TBH, some bitterness, but almost burn roasted grains. Made me think it actually had lava rock in it somehow. Needs a lot more hops to live up to a black ipa.

Had a pint after dinner on 7-8-20 at the Tap and Barrel house for a happy hour price of $4.00.
Beer was served black with a nice tan head.
Nose had hints of grapefruit and mild roasted malts.
Taste was really well balanced between the mild roasted malts and the grapefruit and pine accented hop addition. Bitterness was 4/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel was medium bodied and smooth.
Overall this was a pretty solid beer that was designed to be balanced and appeal to folks. I found that neither the hopping nor the malt selection stood out. But that is alight as this was an easy sipper!
