Very odd and somewhat unpleasant flavor in the nose, likely the smoke everyone mentions. Would not buy again.

Bottle, no date:
This bottle has an over abundance of head. Once that settled, it was a cloudy reddish brown. I could see the cloudiness/particles coming out of the pour. Given the carbonation, might not even a surprise.
Nose was a light overall, with smoke that controlled the nose, but also some caramel and herbal notes, along with a nose that reminds me of English style ales that I describe as metallic.
Taste has the smoke stronger than the nose indicated. There is a Scottish ale in there, but it is hidden by a shroud of smoke. The smoke isn't that strong on the palate, it's just the predominate flavor in what I am tasting. Carbonation is a bit heavy I this pour, but I think the odd would be a bit light, regardless.
I think the smoke needed to be more in balance with the other flavors in the beer to bring this up a notch. What I got was flavorful, but a tad out of balance Maybe because of it, just a bit weak, even for a lighter beer.

It didn't remind me of a scotch ale. It reminded me of a Bass Ale if it had been smoked. I'm a bit disappointed and I wouldn't try this again.

The aroma was typical scotch ale however the taste was completely masked by the overcarbonation of this bottle. I am sure this beer is palateable but until this young brewery figures out QC issues, Im sticking to this rating.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy dark amber with tall, long lasting, fluffy, off-white head, nice lacing and lovely carbonation. Aroma is of smoke, and caramel malt. Body is medium and very crisp. Taste is of smoke, chalk, caramel malt and herbal hops. Finish is long and smoky. Too smoky, I would not drink this often.

Appearance: pours a hazy and cloudy amber color with a 1/2" head that falls apart quickly.
Smell: light malt sweetness and a hint of smokiness is detectable.
Taste: light bready malt base with some soft smokey tones. Little to no hop bitterness here which was expected with the style.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp from start to finish. Short lasting aftertaste.
Overall: an enjoyable beer that has just a hint of smoke to keep it interesting. Easy to consume.
