Special brewed for the Coops anniversary, and very well done. Hazy pale golden with thick, fluffy, but silky head. Flowery, yeasty, doughy, mildly spicy, smooth and tasty (savor it for a minute, let it warm slightly). Right up there with the French farmhouse ales and saisons. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Pounder to Sam Smith oversize nonic.
A: Slightly cloudy straw; tons of off-white head.
S: Banana, clove, yeasty phenolic esters. spicy, some bubble gum, malty breadiness.
T: Pale malts...yeasty esters...clove & spices are apparent...bubble gum remains, as well as the banana. Straightforward Belgian pale. The funk is light, maybe some straw/hay in there.
MF: Medium, well-carbonated, slightly-drying finish.
O: Solid Belgian fare, to me it doesn't fit the saison mold perfectly but overall it is decent.

Appearance: Pours a hazy goldenstraw color with a massive head that leaves a few strands behind
Smell: Sweaty saddle, clove and pepper
Taste: Opens with a biscuity base and adds a grassy, lemony character; the flavor profile gets very spicy, in the middle, with clove and peppery phenols from the yeast; after the swallow, some stone fruit flavors mellow things out, but the clove, pepper and farmhouse elements linger in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation
Overall: This beer got lost for a few months in the back of the fridge but it still shows off the skill of the brewer tackling a Belgian style

I poured this into a pilsner glass, (all I have clean at the moment) its a beautiful opaque straw yellow with a bleached white head that stands 3 fingers with one of those over the rim!
I'm Sweet ripe fruit up front with that classic Belgian spice aroma in the back followed by hay and alcohol.
Once in your mouth its the belgian spice with that wonderfull fruityness with a hint of floral followed by the on par for style sour, leaving you with a sticky sour straw taste almost like a tiny silage pit in your mouth but strangely in a good way some how!
This is only my second Saison, bee reading about them and hearing about them from allot of my home brew blogs that being said it is an excellent brew! Thanks to the co-op and Sockey for pairing up on this awesome brew! More Saisons From Local Boise Brews? I hope so!
Sep 09, 2013I'm Sweet ripe fruit up front with that classic Belgian spice aroma in the back followed by hay and alcohol.
Once in your mouth its the belgian spice with that wonderfull fruityness with a hint of floral followed by the on par for style sour, leaving you with a sticky sour straw taste almost like a tiny silage pit in your mouth but strangely in a good way some how!
This is only my second Saison, bee reading about them and hearing about them from allot of my home brew blogs that being said it is an excellent brew! Thanks to the co-op and Sockey for pairing up on this awesome brew! More Saisons From Local Boise Brews? I hope so!

Sockeye made this beer for the COOP's big anniversary. reinheitsgematt, AKA Matt the COOP's Beer fella shared a can tonight with me. Thanks buddy.
Pours a hazy dark golden with a short lasting white head that provided decent lacing.
The nose fits style quite well.. phenols are more of the bubblegum variety with some minor clove essence... some lite graininess helps carry what background esters that are present.
Flavor mirrors the nose with the bubblegum becoming more rounded and the clove moving even more into the back... again the malts show as a grainy note with a very soft nutty/possible oat essence... finish has a light tartness that is followed by a light minty/herbaceous quality.
Body is light/medium... could use more carbonation IMO, but I understand the limitations of cans... Will this see kegs with a bigger carbonation? I hope so.
Overall, this is a big winner. Surprised how much I like this... Not sure that Sockeye has ever brewed a saison before; if not, GET ON ANOTHER!!
