hard to get overly jazzed about a straight up american style wheat beer, but this is a darn good one. so good in fact, that in won a medal at this years gabf. im glad it did, because it truly is a textbook example of the style. nice to see these guys get some recognition too, they are super nice and their beer is under appreciated i think. the packaging is beautiful, and the label tells a story of immigrant grandparents farming hard to buy their first tractor, thats where this beer got its name. cool story, cool idea, tasty brew. i love a nice fresh easy drinking wheat beer where the wheat malt is the dominant flavor, not a huge late kettle hop dose, a fruity german or belgian yeast, or some bizarre botanical. i love the simplicity of it. this is really pretty flawlessly done int hat regard, and its one of those beers where it feels like there is only eight or nine ounces in the bottle because it just drinks so easily. lots of body, really fresh grain character, grassy summery hops, good mix of european and american strains i would guess, but carefully added, and a efficient but not particularly flavorful brand of yeast. its really the whole package. you know, sometimes its nice to find a beer you can crush on like this. i hope i start to see it around a little more before the summer. i could see this being a regular for me when the weather finally turns. great job on this one!
