Poured at fridge temp. Pours pitch black with a little bit of head. The cacao nibs really come through here. Chocolate, graham cracker, slightly nutty, vanilla.
The taste is amazing. Creamy and smooth. Vanilla, light caramel, milk chocolate, walnuts, slight roasted malts, and a touch of maple. Really enjoyable.
The mouthfeel is nice and creamy, with a great aftertaste of chocolate and caramel.

From a 4-pack picked up at ABV Public House in Hillsboro, OR; first experience with Wiley Roots
12oz can poured into a Unibroue tulip
P murky deep mahogany/black w/ 1f khaki head
N blend of vanilla, caramel, cocoa and a floral note; kinda funky, but intriguing
T follows the nose; ridiculously smooth blend of cocoa, vanilla, caramel, and floral notes; the floral throws me off a bit, but it works; delicious
Mf incredible mouthfeel; a silky smooth, light-med to med body; airy, yet satisfying; soft-med to med carb level
O an excellent and unique offering in the style

L: This one is rearing to go, the beer starts foaming out of the can once you open and Pours a beautiful thick black color with a small tan head.
F: Rich milk chocolate mixes with a strong toasted marshmallow and hint of vanilla to create a very decadent smelling beer.
T: Rich milk chocolate washes over the tongue, followed by a slight bittersweet chocolate and a hint of dark chocolate and a light toasted marshmallow and a very light mint chocolate. This beer is a chocolate lovers dream.
F: Thick body, smooth low carbonation.
O: This beer is definitely sweet and very chocolately, I like how it mixes in lots of different types of chocolate. Forget dessert, grab this beer instead.

The pour was, well, a challenge. It began spouting foam the moment I popped the tab up. Over a minute it carbonated out of the can.
When things finally settled down I had a dark (and I mean dark) chocolate color pour with a brown head.
My wife tells me that it smells like chocolate. My nose doesn’t smell so well right now.
The taste is chocolate, front, middle and swallow. This beer is all about the chocolate. I’m certain that there are nuances involved but I just get chocolate.
The feel is curious as there was no carbonation left, or at least none noticeable. So it drank flat, but because it was so much chocolate it kinda worked.
I might be tempted to try it again, just to see if I can get a non geyser version.
If you like chocolate stout, definitely try this one.

Black, very dark with a full two fingers of mocha head. The smell is cocoa, roasted malt, milk chocolate, vanilla, and cream. Taste is chocolate truffles, cocoa, bittersweet chocolate, opera cream candy, and the finish is sweet and a bit grassy. This has a creamy feel with a lot of chocolate... almost too much chocolate. A sipper but almost hard to finish because there is so much chocolate.

I try almost every Imperial Stout that I see, and this one caught my eye the last time I was out trolling for beer.
The Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Stout seems to be a popular varietal these days. That being said, the wide range of interpertations gives way to a wide range of qualities. This beer falls on the wrong end of the quality ladder on essentially one simple trait: it has almost no carbonation. There is no head, essentially no lacing - nothing to add to the mouthfeel of a really good stout. This is a shame because I think that if it were just a bit more balanced this would be a really good find.
On the good side, it pours a beautiful black and has a very nice nose. The bourbon taste is quite warm and up front, but it isn't overpowering. It's sweet, but not too sweet. I have to think that the lack of carbonation is intentional and not simply a matter of batch variation, since just about every other aspect of this stout comes across as very well constructed.
