i think its amazing how much these guys have evolved in just a few short years, i really have to commend them on the progress. this is a cool beer, brewed with some of their local brewery friends. its a huge stout, no crazy ingredients or barrels, just straight up, and its pretty good, although im not sure it needs to be as strong as it is, even a small pour feels like a lot to me, and there most certainly is a bit of a booze burn to this one. inky black with a short but persistent little head on it. almost burnt dark grain aroma and flavor leads this one off, intense, ashy, charred, backed up by deep dark chocolate on the dry side, a slight hint of permanent marker, dried little blueberries, and stale drip coffee. lots going on here, with plenty of residual bitterness from the dark roasted barley and plenty of exposed alcohol. this drinks a little young to me, but who knows if the cellar would mellow this, being as strong as it is. a cool collaborative effort, but it also takes a collaborative effort to drink a bottle of it. good to really good, short of outstanding.
