L: Pours a slightly opaque dark black, with a large creamy tan head and rings of lacing around the glass.
S: Rich natural chocolate, hazelnut is very prominent, while the almond adds a nice subtle earthy roastedness. One of the most inviting aromas I've had in a beer.
T: Rich chocolate, followed a very nice strong hazelnut, followed by a subtle almod and a nice earthy roast, ends with a light nutty bitterness. Very decadent. The nuttiness balances the sweetness very well.
F: Full body creamy smooth with a slight cola carbonation at the end.
O: This is one of the best porter I have had, extremely decadent, definitely a dessert beer.

these guys are killing it, and the good people of greeley dont know how good they have it. this is a thick and rich and silky smooth chocolate porter, jazzed up with the addition of almonds and hazelnuts. i think its a total winner, one of the best beers these guys make, and something really special. the base porter is exceptional, loaded with natural chocolate flavor and with the chocolate malt, its quite desserty, it it feels no need to be shy about being a bit sweet, it makes sense in this one, and i like its openness about it. the nuts are a cool add though, they do flavor it for sure, the hazelnut a little more distinctive than the almond in here i think, but they also give it a very full body, a necessary toasted earthy character to balance the sweetness, and are very natural and unforced in doing so. this is wintery and rich, and its extremely well done with the nuts. i know they do an imperial version of this, which i am now seeking, and some other flavored ones as well. i cant imagine how this could be improved upon though, one of the better flavored porters of the year for me, intense as it is. this is magic beer!
