a big stout with coffee and caramel, not retired from what i can gather, as it was on tap at the brewery this afternoon. its a little bit sweet, but the heavy coffee roast and bitterness balance that out really well, and while its strong, its also a long flavor evolution and complex enough to never be too much on the additives, i think they did a good job with this overall. a shade lighter in color and body than some of their others in this field, frothy headed from the tap and pleasant looking for the whole drink. the caramel isnt as intense as i thought it might be, and i am fine with that, its not too sweet, and its not buttery or weird, there is no clash with the dark grain at all here. the coffee is what drives it for me, sturdy roast with some light acidity and an obvious chocolate complexion that really pops it off. alcohol is well hidden, malt depth and body are big enough to support all the added flavor, and even though i dont want a ton of this, i sure like it while its in my mouth. the freshness of the coffee is key, as is the not so syrupy texture. flavorful and interesting and good, i have found that almost all of the big flavored stouts these guys do are excellent. still one of the most underrated breweries in the game here in colorado for whatever reason...

L:. Pours a dark black color with a nice tan head and so e nice lacing around the glass.
S:. Aroma isn't quite as strong as expected, rich smooth earthy coffee and a very light note of caramel.
T:. Rich smooth earthy coffee, notes of chocolate and the Caramel is very light but slightly noticeable.
F:. Big body, creamy carbonation with alright slickness at the back.
O:. Very nice stout, I like a few of theirs a bit better but still very nice.

The caramel is nice. It's just enough to make it interesting and not overpowering.
