When the body and mind is all grown up, but the tastebuds are still stuck in childhood yearning for flavor, Wiley Roots knows this dilemma all too well. And that's why they creates a cherry limeade flavored sour ale.
Glowing brightly blush and foggy with a soft backlit glow, Cherry Limeade Slush teases the nose immediately with a tangy fruitiness of cherry and lime, all candy coated and strikingly tart with cider and wine spritzer. As its sweetness splashes the tongue, a sweetness of hard candy, taffy and dry sourdough gives a brisk malty impression.
But anything sweet evacuates the middle palate and allows the fruity sourness to pluck away at the tastebuds with warheads sourness along with those cherry and lime promises. Trending lightly peppery and bitter, the beer's fruit flavors and unabashed sourness carries the load into the late palate.
Light, crisp, clean and refreshing, the ale celebrates the sour fruitiness of childhood memories quite well, it lacks the complexity, interest and curiosity of modern sour ale. Finishing with with straight lactic acid the simplified session wanes with brief echoes of dough and candy.
